Pastries in Kalyan: What’s in the Counter and What to Order

What is in the counter at Cake Innings in Kalyan West — pastries from ₹60, brownies, jar desserts and falooda — with honest prices and what to order…

A cake is a decision. Somebody has a birthday, somebody rings ahead, somebody collects it at a set time.

A pastry is not a decision. It is a Tuesday, you are walking back from M.K. College Road, and something in the counter looks better than going straight home.

This is a guide to the second thing — what is in the counter at Cake Innings, what it costs, and what to pick.

The counter, and what it costs

  • Pastries — from ₹60. Choco truffle, pineapple, red velvet, butterscotch, black forest. Cut fresh from the day’s cakes.
  • Brownies and jar desserts — from ₹90. Walnut brownie, tiramisu jar, cheesecake.
  • Falooda and shakes — from ₹120. Royal falooda, mango, rose, dry fruit. All eggless.

Two people can sit down and eat properly for about ₹250. That is the honest number, not a headline price with conditions attached.

Which pastry to pick

Choco truffle if you want the richest thing in the case. It is the one people come back for and the one to hand a child who is being difficult about choosing.

Pineapple if it is hot, which in Kalyan is most of the year. Lighter, less sweet, does not sit heavily at 4pm.

Red velvet if you are buying for someone else and do not know their taste. It is the safest crowd-pleaser and it looks like more effort than it costs.

Butterscotch if you grew up on Indian bakery cake and want that specific flavour. Nostalgia is a legitimate reason to order something.

Falooda is worth the trip on its own

Royal falooda is the one to order first — rose syrup, basil seeds, vermicelli, ice cream, nuts. It arrives looking like a small event.

Mango when the season is on. Dry fruit if you want something closer to a dessert than a drink.

It is a summer-evening order more than an afternoon one, which is part of why we stay open until 10:30pm.

Sitting in

There is seating, there is wifi, and there is a separate space for small celebrations. Plenty of people use it for an hour of work with a coffee and a brownie, and plenty of families use it after school.

The kitchen is open to the shop floor, so if a cake is being finished while you are in you can watch it happen. It is the main reason people bring visitors here rather than to a chain counter.

Buying pastries for a group

For an office floor or a class party, a tray of pastries usually beats a large cake — everyone takes one and moves, instead of queueing while somebody cuts sixty slices. The reasoning is in our office cake guide.

For anything above about twenty pieces, call ahead the same morning. The counter is cut fresh through the day and we would rather set them aside than have you arrive to a thin case at 9pm.

Everything is eggless

The falooda and shakes are eggless, and eggless pastries are always in the counter. If you need the whole order eggless, say so and it is straightforward — no premium, same as with our cakes. The detail is in our eggless guide, including the difference between eggless and vegan, which matters if you have a dairy restriction.
